<p>I crossed my home country<br />
just now, from the top left<br />
to the bottom right.</p>
<p>A comedian joked that a few<br />
hundred years ago, I would<br />
have been one of my grand-kids<br />
by the time I arrived.</p>
<p>Tampa, Florida. It’s late at<br />
the hotel restaurant and the<br />
air conditioning and Scotch are<br />
fighting for control of my<br />
body temperature.</p>
<p>Reviewing the number of universes<br />
I created with each decision and<br />
event on the way here. It calls<br />
for a toast. There are now<br />
an equal number of branches in<br />
which I ditched my business and<br />
went home with the raven-haired<br />
girl who played guitar for me<br />
in the terminal.</p>
<p>And, an equal number in which<br />
only the music grabbed me. One<br />
of which, thankfully, I still<br />
live inside.</p>
