<poem>

Around a fireplace was a good story haven,
with the people gathering around to hear
the stories of heroes past and to come,
and of how the world would be undone,
but surely he was insane, when he implied
that man was ever meant to extinct,
to die out into nothing but darkness,
a mutual memory of rock and water
carved into the sky;

Surely he jested, but the sky above
showed no sign of divine intervention
when he said that the Divine were wrathful;
there was nary a storm cloud, a soul to be found
in that great thing up there; all I could
really see, were all the heroes of lifetimes past,
adorning the sky as little blips of light.

So he told his story some more; man came from
nothing, as did the gods, as did all, a sort of
Ginnungagap, as Odin might so have called it;
it was dark, but what is the measure of dark
when there is no one to observe it? There
was no light to be found, only rays of
effervescent entropy escaping every edifice,
entering and permeating the infinity of totality,
the darkness that then only existed
in our dreams, as it does now.
